The 2025-26 Rotary year started July 1st. Rotary members are called to be a force for unity in a world increasingly divided by politics, geography, and ideology. Through service projects, Rotary brings together people of every background in a shared mission to do good in their communities. Get more involved with Changemakers, we are looking for someone for membership committee, foundation committee, a President Elect for 25-26 who would be president next year, a grants committee and treasurer.  Rotary Interational Annual Convention was in Calgary, Canada, June 21 - 25. LeRoy and Cathy attended in person. LeRoy will share his experiences cycling to the event next month. The new president's speech at the convention can be downloaded from the rotary.org brand center, part of MyRotary. Sharon Bradish was the winner of our 50/50 raffle. Congratulations Sharon!!! Grants are based on giving to the Rotary Foundation. To be eligible a club needs to achieve the Every Rotarian, Every Year pledge. Go to MyRotary.org under Participate and Support Our Foundation to donate or set up a monthly pledge. The Polio Plus fund can also be contributed to this way. We are always looking for new members. Current members are encouraged to share meeting invites on social media.
Committee meetings are the 4th Tuesday of the month at 5:00. Next meeting will be July 22nd at 5:00. Access the meetings the same as a regular meeting. The Service Committee will be announcing the start of our next project soon, a Rotary Peace Pole for Elmwood Elementary's Peace Pollinator Garden in Zion Illinois. The Executive board meeting is the 2nd Tuesday of the month at 5:00. All club members are welcome. We achieved 18 of 18 goals for the 24 - 25 Rotary year ending June 30th. Sharon shared a Thank You from Beth Heaney in memory of Dwight Heaney who passed away in May. We have lost three active club members since its founding just a few short years ago. The Ukrainian Refugee School service project is progressing. Our district will match any donations 1:1 The Hungarian Rotarians will be submitting the global grant application in the coming months, and will celebrate this milestone in autumn of 2025. An international pen pal project is being set up with the Ukrainian Refugee School to enhance English proficiency and foster cross-cultural connections.
Operation Pollination is well underway for this growing season. Plants are coming in fast, projects are under-way. Next month, LeRoy Kemnitz will tell us about his cycling with other Rotarians from the Rotary International headquarters in Evanston Illinois to the International Convention in Calgary Canada.  Friday September 5th Cathy Statz and Sharon Bradish will tell us about the June District 6250 Rotary Friendship Exchange to Sweden. The new District 6250 governor, Michael Kloss, spoke to us about himself and his purpose as District Governor. Rotary in general has three main objectives this year: Increase membership, end polio, and promoting world peace, and district 6250 shares these objectives. Mike’s goals as district governor include a succession plan, grow plans for Rotary, sharing among communities. There is a need for volunteers at district level, if you want to volunteer, visit the district website or let Mike know.
