Please read below for information on volunteering at the Youth Ethics Symposium, hosted by the Rotary Club of Madison. They are looking for 10 more volunteers (as either facilitators or hosts) on February 3, 2023. This is a really awesome event that brings together high school students from all over Dane County. The young leaders that attend learn valuable skills that help them tackle ethical dilemmas. Please take a moment at your next meeting or directly pass this invitation to volunteer along to your club members that would be interested. They should inform Joyce Bromley (CC'd) by December 23rd if they want to participate.
Thank you!
Erin Luken
Group 8 Assistant Gov.
Over 200 junior high school students will be attending the Ethics Symposium to be held on Friday, February 3, 2023 at Monona Terrace, 8:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
In preparation for being a facilitator or a host you would be required to attend the training session on January 28, 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 Noon at Capitol Lakes, Grand Hall. The training session will provide the opportunity for this year’s facilitators and hosts to work together. At the training session the principles of the Rotary Ethics model will be rehearsed to enable each facilitator and host to feel competent in the Rotary ethics model. The Rotary model will be used in each break-out session. The purpose of repeating this model in each session is to re-enforce the ethics format in order to prepare students in its everyday use.
On February 3rd, you would be assigned 3 breakout sessions with about 20 students in each session. In each session, a discussion of a different pre-determined dilemma using the Rotary Ethics model will be facilitated by a Rotarian and assisted by a room host.
Rotarians who have participated in the past have found these roles rewarding. I hope that you will consider participating this year.
I can be reached by telephone if/they have further questions at 608-238-0623.
Warm regards,
Joyce
