Meet Val Wachuta
Tell us about yourself (career, family, hobbies):
For the past 11 years I’ve been a business intelligence developer at UW-Platteville. Prior to that I was a Quality Engineer for Philips Lighting. I have a husband and adult son who lives in Dubuque. Spring, Summer and Fall I like to spend my free time outdoors – gardening, geocaching, hiking, playing with the dog. In my other spare time, I try to be a lifelong learner.
What is your proudest accomplishment? Why?
I’m proudest of being a mom. My good kid has grown into a great young man and I always enjoy spending time with him and his girlfriend.
What would you sing at karaoke night?
Walking on Sunshine, it’s happy and energizing, and a Zumba class favorite.
What was your first job?
Sewing frontiersman shirts for a store that sold to re-enactors.
If you could travel to a place that you haven’t been to, where would it be?
Prague and the Czech Republic because that’s were the majority of my ancestors are from.
What’s the best concert you’ve ever been to?
REO Speedwagon in La Crosse.
